New Year, Same Fight for Democracy in 2026

This past year, Americans bore the cost of President Trump’s attempt to consolidate power at all costs. After running a presidential campaign rooted in false statements about our elections and filled with promises to expand his power, it became abundantly clear to us at Campaign Legal Center that the fight for democracy in 2025 would begin with upholding the rule of law and the Constitution in the face of executive overreach.

In a year defined by illegal executive orders, threats to independent agencies, attacks on our electoral system and blatant disregard for ethical government, Campaign Legal Center met each brazen challenge to democracy with action.

Looking back at 2025, we successfully responded to each new challenge and used the courts to protect fundamental freedoms for Americans, including halting the president's anti-voter executive order that threatened to unconstitutionally exert control over our elections.

President Trump’s threats to the rule of law may be new, but Campaign Legal Center has been focused on preserving the guardrails of our democracy for decades. Legal strategies that have ensured accountability in the past are being deployed to protect the rights of Americans against unconstitutional executive overreach moving forward. We will continue to fight for the rule of law, the separation of powers and the freedoms of every American, while working tirelessly to make sure our elections remain free and fair in 2026 and beyond.
