With just a few hours left in 2025, I wanted to share a personal note of gratitude. Thank you for your partnership – we have accomplished so much together this year, and have a momentous 2026 ahead of us.

In 2025, we saw cities across the nation improving their elections with ranked choice voting. This included the nation’s largest-ever city ranked choice election. The New York City election demonstrated how ranked choice voting can make politics better – building a politics of the future with cross-endorsements and constructive campaigning, and leading to more functional and responsive governance.

Against the backdrop of this summer’s redistricting wars, FairVote’s David Daley made the strongest case yet for the Fair Representation Act – a national solution to this national problem. And earlier this month, the Ranked Choice Voting Act was re-introduced in both houses of Congress; it has already garnered the most sponsors for any piece of RCV legislation to date.

With your help, we can carry this momentum into 2026. FairVote will support a successful first use of ranked choice voting in our nation’s capital – Washington, DC. From Alaska to Maine, California to Virginia, Michigan to New Mexico, and everywhere in between, there are promising pro-RCV efforts moving in state legislatures and city halls. We will continue to support local leaders who are doing hard work and building toward lasting change.

In a year of crowded primary elections, we’ll drive a national conversation on how ranked choice voting and proportional representation can make more choice a good thing for voters, candidates, and parties alike. This work will also set the stage for the 2028 presidential primaries, where ranked choice voting can give voters more voice in crowded, quickly changing candidate fields – and help parties identify their strongest potential nominees.

This work will not be easy, but nothing worth doing ever is. Together, we can continue making real progress toward elections and governance that work for the American people.
