John — I won’t sugarcoat it: North Carolina Democrats are entering the midterms as underdogs. Republican gerrymandering has been precisely targeted for the greatest effect. Their political maneuvering is designed to keep the GOP in power. But we can still make progress and win key races. In 2024, Democrats won statewide. Our gubernatorial victory helped carry down-ballot candidates to victory, too. And in 2026, we have two critical statewide elections on the ballot. The path to the U.S. Senate majority runs through North Carolina. Roy Cooper is the candidate who can flip this seat from red to blue for the first time since 2008. And Justice Anita Earls’ NC Supreme Court re-election is the key to taking back the majority on the Court in future elections. These are races Democrats can win, John.
