"Today, women and men are legally equal. In fact, in 2020, women are more educated, more economically prosperous, and more politically powerful than ever before. Adopting the ERA now would not ratify the legal equality we have long since achieved."

** Biden’s Climate Plan Prioritizes Pleasing Progressives Over Advancement ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
Presidential candidate Joe Biden released his new climate plan, and the contents aren't a surprise. The sums involved in Biden’s new economic agenda, “Build Back Better,” are pretty breathtaking: He proposes $2 trillion in spending in the next four years ([link removed]) , a big jump from his proposed plan in 2019, which required $1.7 trillion over a decade. Through the “Build Back Better” plan, Biden aims to couple COVID-19 recovery with increased investment in climate change policies. Much of this, such as eliminating carbon emissions from the power grid, is unrealistic, even if it isn’t surprising. And the economic damage caused by the higher energy costs and massive tax increases would harm everyone, but especially lower-income communities, whom Biden claims this approach is supposed to protect.

** New Effort May Finally Make Price Transparency a Reality ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------

Many of our “systems,” from education to prison to health care, are getting a long overdue reevaluation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. One very strange aspect of our healthcare system is the lack of transparent pricing. Many Americans are now asking: Why? Can you imagine getting treated for care you thought was covered, only to get a surprise bill later? Fifty-seven percent of Americans don’t have to use their imaginations on this one. It’s been their reality. ([link removed]) Fortunately, there’s now a legislative effort in both houses of Congress–The Healthcare PRICE Transparency Act–to make healthcare prices available to patients up front.

Mail-In Voting and Election Integrity ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
In 1864, in the midst of the Civil War, Americans still participated in a presidential election. And yet, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, support for mail-in voting is growing.

Can you identify which of these statements about mail-in voting is not true?

A: Mail-in voting poses a threat to the integrity of our elections.
B: Mail-in voting will end the secret ballot.
C: Mail-in voting is safe because our voter rolls and databases are always up to date.

The nature of work is changing rapidly. Independent contractors are a growing proportion of the American workforce—now holding 1 in 5 jobs, from handymen to freelance journalists to photographers. States like California have passed radical and restrictive laws that completely alter, if not outright dissolve, independent contracting relationships. Not all workers want 9-to-5 jobs. We must speak up and stop this dangerous and disastrous threat.

** 2020 vs. 1968 ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
Half a century ago, our elite institutions were still relatively conservative. Today, virtually all of them support the Woke Revolution. Writing on Twitter recently, Charles Murray reminded us that “America’s privileged 20-somethings were just as ignorant of history, unhinged, and unthinkingly violent in the late 1960s as they are now." In a way, this demonstrates just how much the Sixties-era radicals managed to transform American society over the long run. The woke mobs of 2020 claim to be attacking a racist and oppressive establishment—yet the establishment is overwhelmingly on their side. Where is all of this going? Nowhere good.

** This California Law Is Destroying American Dreams ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
California's Assembly Bill 5, signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom last year, is so notorious that in the Golden State it’s known simply as AB5. Despite pushback in California, Democrats want to take it nationwide, passing the Protecting the Right to Organize Act—dubbed the PRO Act—through the U.S. House of Representatives earlier this year. But the law is hurting the people it's intended to help, like JoBeth McDaniel. AB5 brought McDaniel’s passion project to a grinding halt. For years, she’s been working on a book and wanted to produce an accompanying podcast. She paid for podcast training and was prepared to hire independent contractors, but after consulting with lawyers, she concluded that because of AB5, the risks were too high.

** Parents Get Help With School Choice From COVID-19 Funds ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
The coronavirus has robbed children of in-person learning, time with friends and rites of passage, such as prom and walking across the stage at commencement. Amid the uncertainty of the widely varying fall semester reopening plans, there is a glimmer of hope. In South Carolina, $32 million of the state’s Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) funds will be awarded to individuals currently attending or seeking to enroll in private or independent schools. As parents around the country grapple with ever-changing regulations, school choice programs provide them with increased options and the financial means to send their children to the school that is best suited to their individual needs.
