Friend,
I’m Bradley Heard, deputy legal director at the Southern Poverty Law Center, and I’m disturbed by recent attempts to dismantle voting rights — especially for historically disenfranchised Black and Brown voters.
A slew of discriminatory anti-voter bills have been introduced or enacted to restrict access to the ballot box, states are aggressively gerrymandering unfair districts, and the far-right extremist movement is attempting to destabilize democratic institutions. But my team is pushing back.
Friend, now through December 31, your impact on voting rights and justice for all is doubled — please don’t wait to make your year-end gift. We need your support now while your gift goes twice as far. ([link removed])
DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT >> ([link removed])
When you give in support of our civil rights work, you help power these active voting rights cases, and more:
⚖️ Louisiana passed a law requiring documentation proving citizenship for voter registration, restricting voter access beyond what federal law allows. So we sued. League of Women Voters of Louisiana v. Landry is currently active in U.S. District Court, Middle District of Louisiana.
⚖️ Florida passed a law designed to eliminate the citizen-led ballot initiative process for amending the Florida State Constitution. So we sued. The case is moving at lightning speed, and we are preparing for trial in early 2026.
⚖️ In Georgia, we are challenging the use of an at-large voting system that has weakened Black voting power in elections for the Board of Commissioners in Houston County. We have also continued to challenge the Election Integrity Act of 2021, SB 202, which criminalizes voter assistance activities by individuals and organizations.
Voting rights are being attacked like never before. We are approaching what’s bound to be an especially heated election year, and these attempts to undermine voting rights aren’t slowing down. So please, friend, give what you’re able while your gift is matched, dollar-for-dollar. Your tax-deductible gift fuels our work to protect our sacred right to vote and safeguard civil and human rights for all. ([link removed])

I can assure you that the SPLC will continue the march for justice until everyone can freely and fairly exercise their right to vote.
Thank you for being a vital force for fair elections and diverse democracy,
