FANTASTIC NEWS! Our hard work and dedication to our outdoor spaces has paid off. The U.S. House of Representatives just said YES to fully and permanently fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund!
The House’s decisive and bipartisan stamp of approval for this historic conservation package - following a similar bipartisan vote in the Senate - demonstrates that our nation’s public lands and waters have the power to unite us and that protecting America’s public lands has broad, popular support.
The Great American Outdoors Act will boost the American economy. LWCF funds grow the outdoor recreation economy by increasing recreational access to public lands in every state and county in America. Increased public access to public lands means increased seasonal visitation and tourism and thus more spending in local communities.
This is a tremendous victory for our country and our communities. Now that Congress has acted, we look forward to the President’s signature to enact the Great American Outdoors Act into law - protecting public lands and providing equitable access to nature for all communities. The Great American Outdoors Act will provide a significant shot in the arm to our nation’s economy and help heal our public lands and waters at a time when natural areas are rapidly disappearing.
