John,
As we head into these final days of the year, I wanted to take a moment to share a few important updates about where this race stands:
- This district is changing in a real way. With the passage of Proposition 50, tens of thousands of new voters are being added to CA-27. Many of them have never seen my name on the ballot, which means our outreach work in the months ahead will be critical. The work of introducing myself and earning their trust starts now, NOT next fall.
- This seat is still one of the most competitive in the country. Even with the new maps, election experts continue to rank CA-27 as a key battleground for House control. National Republicans know that flipping seats like ours is central to their strategy, and they are already preparing to invest heavily here.
- A Republican challenger is already in the race, backed by the GOP machine. Earlier this year, a GOP challenger entered the race with a day-one endorsement from Mike Garcia -- the Republican incumbent I defeated in 2024. That was no accident. It was a clear signal that national Republicans want to flip this seat back and are preparing for an onslaught of outside spending and attacks in the new year.
- Early strength matters more than ever. As a first-term Democrat holding a competitive district, what we report at the end of this year will shape how this race is viewed heading into the midterm election year by allies and opponents alike.
Our final FEC deadline of the year is just days away, and I want to enter January on strong footing. I’d be grateful for your support with a contribution of $3 or any amount before the deadline. It will help us hold the line in CA-27 and prepare for the fights ahead.
