Dear Friend,
Cruelty doesn’t take a holiday. We worked with law enforcement to bust a cockfight last month on Thanksgiving. Animal fights were staged on Christmas, and our team has been out in the field even then.
The government is also readying plans, as I write this, to gin up mass shooting of barred owls. We’re fighting them in federal court, but to be sure, this is an ongoing slugfest.
We’ve got the National Pork Producers Council on the ropes, having blocked their maneuvers in 2025 to overturn Prop 12. But we know that they are going to make one last desperate push in 2026.
Animal Wellness Action exists to confront these threats head-on. We don’t shrink from the toughest fights. And we know how to win.
Right now, we are:
- Working with the leaders of the federal health agencies to stop invasive testing on 70,000 primates a year and to see that they spend the rest of their lives in safe places.
- Gearing up in the U.S. Senate to stop that chamber from ratifying a bill that would lift federal protections for them, exposing them to lethal onslaughts in half a dozen states.
- Leading or co-leading 17 legislative initiatives in Congress to spare all manner of species from harm—from ending mink farming to creating a private right of action to allow citizens to sue dogfighters and cockfighters to ending all greyhound racing in America.
These are not abstract goals. They are live battles. And in advocacy, momentum is everything. The resources we secure now determine whether we can keep pressure on decision-makers, respond quickly to new developments, and prevent hard-won progress from unraveling.
That’s why this moment in our year-end campaign is so important. We are still in the early phase, with a $25,000 matching gift in place—doubling every contribution made right now.
