After 60 years in and around politics, I’ve developed a sixth sense. And my sixth sense tells me the tide is now turning on Donald Trump.
You see, there’s a sleeping giant in America who always remains asleep until someone so corrupt brazenly shows their true colors that it has no choice but to awaken—and roar. To be shaken from its slumber and scream, “What the hell is going on here?!”
And I believe we are approaching that moment.
Trump is destroying our civil rights and shredding our Constitution. The Epstein scandal haunts him. And he's tanking the economy and hasn’t done squat to help working people.
The American people are beginning to see this. And that’s why his approval rating has reached its lowest point ever in his second term.1
Like any authoritarian bully in history, when Trump feels humiliated, he lashes out. But what he doesn’t realize is that his authoritarianism is beginning to wake up America’s great sleeping giant.
We went from 3 million people in the streets for the Hands Off! protests in April to 5 million for the first No Kings Day in June to 7 million in big cities, small towns, blue counties, and ruby-red districts in October in the largest single day of political protest in U.S. history.
Communities are banding together to protect their immigrant neighbors.
Consumers are boycotting corporations that suck up to Trump.
Maybe I’m being too optimistic. But I’ve seen the signs. America’s sleeping giant is starting to roar at the tyrant occupying the Oval Office.

America’s sleeping giant roared after witnessing scenes of civil rights marchers getting clobbered by white supremacists. Then, Congress passed the Civil Rights Act.
It roared after tens of thousands of young Americans were killed in Vietnam, finally bringing to an end one of America’s costliest, deadliest, and stupidest wars.
It roared after the Watergate scandal and forced President Richard Nixon to exit the White House by helicopter.
