Applying for Affordable Housing in NYC

Tuesday, January 6
3:30 pm ET

The Entertainment Community Fund’s Housing Resource Center invites you to join us for Applying for Affordable Housing in NYC. This class is designed to help arts workers navigate the world of affordable housing with confidence.

This class will help you get organized so you’re ready when housing opportunities arise. We’ll break down the application process into simple, manageable steps to help you avoid common pitfalls and understand the resources available to you. We’ll explore how to assess your income, gather documentation and understand eligibility requirements.

Alongside information on citywide affordable housing programs, we’ll also introduce our own housing residences. We’ll answer essential questions, including:

  • What exactly is affordable housing, and which programs should you know about?
  • Where do you find opportunities, and how do you apply?
  • What is the income and eligibility criteria?
  • How do housing lotteries work?
  • Is it possible to join a waiting list?
  • How do you document income when your earnings change from gig to gig?
  • How do you prepare to submit documents?
  • What can you do if your application is denied?
