In 2015, Donald J. Trump called for a 'total and complete shutdown' of Muslims entering the United States. Following his election, one of his first orders as president was to ban travel from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. Congress responded and in 2019, introduced the NO BAN Act. This year, he expanded that ban to include Nigeria, Eritrea, Tanzania, Sudan, Kyryzstan and Myanmar. 

Today, the House of Representatives finally passed the NO BAN Act, a bill that will effectively repeal the Trump Administration's discriminatory bans against Muslims, Africans, refugees and asylees. We applaud the House for their vote and support for this vital act. The House passing the NO BAN Act demonstrates their commitment to ending policies aimed at harming immigrants, minorities and communities of color.

Emgage Action has worked hard alongside partners to engage with members of Congress, center the voices of afflicted communities, and to end this bigoted policy enacted by the Trump administration. We are grateful to our members, coalition partners and advocates like YOU who helped lead us to this historic day.  

Our efforts are not done and we must hold our candidates accountable. We must ensure no administration has the authority to enact such discriminatory policy again. Yesterday, Emgage Action hosted Vice President Joe Biden who announced his commitment to ending the Muslim Ban on DAY ONE when elected.
