Serafim was found clinging to his mother's lifeless body. As a seven-month-old cub, he was too young and too scared to leave her side. She'd been caught in an illegal trap set by poachers in Romania. For two days, Serafim cried out, hungry and afraid.
Serafim had no chance of survival without his mother.
Thankfully, Serafim's cries were heard by a few kind-hearted people. Now he is safe at Libearty Bear Sanctuary, a haven for bears in Romania that we helped build over 20 years ago.
At Libearty, Serafim met another orphaned cub, Alexander. From the moment they were introduced, they became inseparable. They do absolutely everything together: chase each other through the grass, splash in the pool, play, rest, and explore--never straying far from one another. They're both learning what it means to be a bear, thanks to you.
