Dear Friend,

2026 is just days away, and we are in a race to the finish line to unlock our $75,000 matching gift opportunity ([link removed]) by our December 31 deadline.

The work of NCLEJ to reduce barriers to public benefits, dismantle structural racism, and make our country more inclusive for people with disabilities is more important than ever. It’s an understatement to say that due to the appalling actions of the Trump administration, 2025 has been a difficult and traumatic year for the people and communities that we serve.

The recent SNAP crisis is just one example of how poor people in our country are struggling more acutely than before. Although the government shutdown may be over (at least for now), the fight to secure food benefits for people in need is not. Millions around the country continue to face unlawful delays and barriers to access, and through our SNAP litigation in Alaska, Missouri, Georgia and New York, NCLEJ is raising awareness about the ways that our food benefits system remains broken.

But many more states continue to impose barriers that prevent people from accessing the food benefits they desperately need. That’s why it’s critical that we meet our fundraising goals consistently. Without additional financial resources, we are forced to turn down cases in additional states where we otherwise could make the difference.

So that’s why I’m asking: will you make NCLEJ a priority in your charitable contributions this Giving Season?

We are making considerable progress to unlock our $75,000 matching gift opportunity, but our goal has not yet been reached. There isn’t much time left before our deadline, so I am urging you to act now. ([link removed])

In solidarity,

Jason D. Williamson
