“I never thought I would give birth living in a tent, in such cold and freezing conditions, with water dripping on us,” Nariman said to the BBC. Her newborn daughter, baby Sila, died from hypothermia just weeks after being born.

For over two years, women and girls in Gaza have faced the threat of hunger, dehydration, disease, and attacks.

But recently, a new threat has emerged: bitter winter winds with no access to heat or hot water. Mothers in Gaza are giving birth prematurely and lacking the nutrients to breastfeed. Their children are dying from exposure.

At least seven babies have died from hypothermia in Gaza. As Nariman's husband said, “If we don't die from the war, we're dying from the cold.”

The generosity of our supporters has helped mothers like Nariman provide for their children and care for themselves during this brutal winter. But as the cold months stretch on, women, girls, and newborns in Gaza and around the world continue to need your support. Will you join our compassionate supporters and make a lifesaving gift today?

MAKE A LIFESAVING GIFT

As the temperature drops and rains turn the ground into mud, 1.7 million people in Gaza are facing another winter in makeshift tents, some of them torn to shreds.

But under harsh winter conditions, the stakes are even higher. Hunger is pervasive, pregnancy complications skyrocket, and new risks such as hypothermia arise.

Mothers must hold their babies all night to keep them out of the puddles on the ground.

Past support has reached 51,000 women and girls in Gaza with Winter Dignity Kits, cash assistance, and UNFPA Safe Spaces in December. That's 51,000 women and girls who can stay warm and survive the winter because of the generosity of supporters like you. But the needs are far greater than the resources we have.

With the winter months stretching on, women and girls desperately need your help.

Will you make a gift and deliver lifesaving care, including UNFPA Winter Dignity Kits, today? Each kit is just $15 — but its contents are priceless to women and girls in need. And today, your gift will be doubled, providing double the care for women and girls this winter.

DELIVER WINTER DIGNITY KITS

We welcome the ceasefire agreement, the release of all hostages by Hamas, and the delivery of lifesaving humanitarian aid in Gaza. We are hopeful that peace will prevail and that the suffering of women, girls, and families will end.

Thank you for being there for women and girls when many have turned away.
