Dear Friend,

I’ve defended species from extinction my entire career – so I’m no stranger to formidable opponents.

With our clients and partners, I’ve taken on the timber industry and Big Oil to protect gray wolves, salmon, orcas, marbled murrelets, and the places they call home.

Now, the Trump administration is again taking aim at the Endangered Species Act (ESA) — the single most important shield wildlife has from extinction.

The administration’s goal is clear: Give the extractive industries I’ve spent my career fighting against a free pass for mining, drilling, and logging that destroys vulnerable wildlife.

And as the biodiversity crisis worsens, Earthjustice is defending the ESA when we need it most.

Your donations are what allow me to come into work every day and do what I love: speak for the trees, mammals, birds, and fish in and around the Pacific Northwest. Thank you. Please consider a year-end donation to Earthjustice, and it will be matched $2:$1 to triple your impact.

The ESA is a cornerstone environmental law that’s protected countless species for more than 50 years.

But despite the fact that four out of five Americans support the ESA, the Trump administration has proposed sweeping rollbacks to the law. It’s not a coincidence that these changes directly benefit the private interests that stand to profit from the destruction of our public lands.

Those disastrous proposed rollbacks include:
- Eliminating automatic protections for species that will be listed as threatened, which could leave species like the California spotted owl, greater sage grouse, and monarch butterfly unprotected.
- Stripping away core habitat protections, despite habitat loss being the number one cause of extinction.
- Fast-tracking destructive projects by emphasizing "economic considerations” when making decisions about adding species to the protected list.

Earthjustice has protected wildlife in court using the ESA for decades, and now we are preparing to fight to protect the law itself. When you donate to Earthjustice before year end, your gift will be tripled to help us hire more lawyers, fund more lawsuits, and support our advocacy work to not only harness the power of the law, but the power of collective action.

It’s my honor to work alongside our partners and supporters like you to defend our precious wild places, and cornerstone environmental laws. Thank you for taking advantage of this moment at the end of 2025 to help us prepare for the fights ahead in 2026.

In partnership.
