Dear Supporter,
We have a fun challenge for you and you’ll help save taxpayers money.
First, here’s what happened.
The Canadian Taxpayers Federation caught the Trudeau government blowing $11,100 on pictures of oatmeal, bananas and a guy skating for a Health Canada Instagram page. Nobody else in the media found it. But our own investigative journalist dug it up.
How hard is it to take a picture of oatmeal? Not hard. But, apparently, it’s too hard for bureaucrats at Health Canada.
The Healthy Canadians Instagram account shows a range of posts on health information, meal tips and the government’s advice for our outdoor activities.
The bureaucrats say it was too tough for them to find free photos of people wearing helmets and eating veggies, so they hired a photographer and bought about 200 pictures for $11,100. That’s $60 a shot.
This is a ridiculous waste of money. We want to make sure Health Canada doesn’t do something this dumb again. And that’s where the fun challenge comes in.
Grab your camera and take some pictures of things such as oatmeal, people holding houseplants and enjoying the outdoors and send them to Health Canada - here's the email address: [email protected]
How easy is that? Snap and send. Include a quick message telling Health Canada to use your photos next time instead of wasting your tax dollars on expensive photographers.
Bureaucrats waste money when they think nobody’s looking. Here's a fun way to remind them someone is looking and to hold them accountable.
Thank you for all that you do!
Sincerely,
- Aaron, Todd, Shannon and the whole CTF Team.
