Measuring about 3 inches long and weighing about one-tenth of an ounce, the Calliope Hummingbird is the smallest bird in North America. That doesn’t stop them from surviving cold summer nights at high elevations in the northern Rockies or migrating every year from Canada all the way to southern Mexico. But this tiny hummingbird is facing a big problem: If climate change continues unchecked, 67% of their current breeding range could be lost.
