EIE’s work in 2025 strengthened protections, elevated awareness, and deepened partnerships across federal, state, and community levels. Historic Federal Policy Successes This year marked significant legislative and legal wins. EIE’s advocacy contributed to the signing of the Take It Down Act, historic bipartisan legislation criminalizing non-consensual intimate imagery and deepfakes—providing critical legal tools to protect youth online. EIE celebrated the signing of this landmark law by President Trump in the Rose Garden. Nineteen states have passed similar age verification laws as smartphones and other devices make it easier to access online pornography, including hardcore obscene material. Strategic High-Level Meetings EIE met with various members of Congress and senior staff at the White House to Advance the Children's Internet Safety Presidential Pledge recommendations. These meetings emphasized collaboration and commitment to legislative solutions tailored to local needs. Senator Lindsey Graham (SC) met with EIE to advance the Children’s Internet Safety Presidential Pledge and advancing new laws like the Earn It Act to prevent the online exploitation of children. Congressman John Moolenaar (MI) joined EIE to explore aggressive enforcement and expansion of laws against child sexual abuse material (CSAM), sextortion, trafficking, and AI-generated abuse. Senator Mike Lee (UT) engaged in discussions on federal strategies to prevent online exploitation, including the SCREEN Act, Protect Act, and App Store Accountability Act South Carolina Lt. The EIE team met with South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson and his staff to discuss EIE's statewide initiative to advance ways to keep S.C.'s children and families safer online. Donna participated in a panel alongside SC Rep. Brandon Guffey—whose son tragically died by suicide after sextortion—at Attorney General Alan Wilson’s Human Trafficking Summit Public Education, Media & Awareness Education and awareness continued to expand in 2025.
