Email from OCPAC THE NEW YEAR & THE CELEBRATION OF CHRIST'S BIRTH Published Monday, December 29, 2025 SEND THIS NEWSLETTER TO A FRIEND HERE. THE CALENDAR & CHRISTENDOM In a few days, a ball of historic size (5.5-tons) featuring 5,280 circular Waterford red, white, and blue crystals will make a 60-second descent from the top of One Times Square as the nation celebrates the closing of a year of our lives on this earth. And, of course, also celebrating our anticipation of the year whose history we are about to write. Though the number 2026 will be emblazoned before our eyes, there will be no one to remind the nation or the world of the profoundly important meaning of the moniker we assign to “Father Time’s” annual divisions. The profound meaning to the number we assign to each passing year is, of course because the number is a counting of the years since God manifested His presence in human flesh in Bethlehem’s manger. Among the first to connect divinity with numbers was Euclid of Alexandria (300 B.C.), the “Father of Geometry.” Euclid said the physical laws of the Created universe are the mathematical thoughts of God. Last year, I wrote with brevity on the ubiquity throughout the divine Creation of the mathematical sequence we know as “Phi” or the “Fibonacci Sequence.” The secularization of names, numbers, things, and even people is a hallmark of civilization having forgotten its divine history, its divine future, and the divine nature of the present. Such is the reason that in the late 20th century, it became fashionable to use the monikers BCE (“Before the Common Era”) and CE (“Common Era”) to replace the traditional BC (“Before Christ”) and AD (“Anno Domini,” Latin for “In the Year of Our Lord”). There is no such era as the “Common Era.” BCE and CE are used for one reason only: to remove the Christian significance of the calendar. In a culture where even Christmas struggles to feature Christ and not Santa Clause, it would be asking a bit much to imagine a world eager to acknowledge the religious side of the number which will mark our calendar and our defining moments. The number 2026 will label the next twelve months in the life of mankind and is a remembrance of the earthly birth of Christ. In that sense, it is the calendar’s twin to December 25. In short, the world celebrates and acknowledges the centrality of Christ in history two days each year: December 25 and January 1. 2026 is not an accounting number but is, rather, the birthday of the world’s Messiah. It should remind us of the core of history which is both personal and divine. The mile marker of time akin to a divine rudder guiding mankind, the nations, and all the achievements in art, the humanities, and industry that ensues. The calendar marks not only our birthdays but also the birthday of the King. Mankind’s progress is marked by a person. History is connected to the very personal elements of divine transcendence. Thus, it is more than a material progression and the functional but meaningless mechanical ticking of an economic clock. The reason re-introducing Bibles into the public classroom is at all controversial is because those who bear the burden of attending to our cultural rudder (the clergy, the political class, and academia) have forgotten the vital nature of the divine elements which permeate the Creation as well as the inseparability of the divine from the soul of man and the families, societies, and nations he builds. For most of his life, the world-renowned philosopher and atheist, Jorgen Habermas, belittled Christianity. However, his reflection of the trajectory of Europe, its potential demise, and perhaps some soul-searching, has provided him an appreciation for the necessity of Christianity as more than the catalyst of European history. In 2006, he wrote regarding religion and Europe’s public square: Christianity has functioned as more than a precursor or catalyst. To this day, there is no alternative to it. We continue to draw on the substance of this heritage. Everything else is just idle postmodern talk. Henri De Lubac’s The Drama of Atheist Humanism devotes the final third of the book to Dostoevsky. And Dostoevsky’s major point in his writing is that man cannot live without God. He states, “Man is a theotropic being.” Perhaps this is why Moses wrote to the early church the words which Christ himself repeated: Man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of God. ~Deuteronomy 8:3; Matthew 4:4; Luke 4:4. ESV (In Acts 7:38, Stephen calls this early congregation of God the “church in the desert.” KJV) Removal of the divine from man and his culture is the death of a nation. The procession of the calendar is the chart of man’s travels as the trajectory of Christ and Christendom make their way to the Kingdom of God on the earth. Because the calendar is tethered to Bethlehem, Christendom’s benevolent grip on mankind’s future is the promise that: Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end. ~Isaiah 9:7 BROKEN ARROW, OKLAHOMA HAS LOST ITS MOORINGS The City Council of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma has lost its way as evidenced by their welcoming a major footprint within their city for a Muslim community with one history only: the obliteration of Christendom. Author, speaker, and OCPAC Foundation Board member, William J. Federer spoke on the long history of this violent group. In short, he explains they have a three-step method: Immigrate, Increase, Eliminate. Watch the two-minute clip here. While perusing Dostoevsky’s A Writer’s Diary last week, I came across his comments from his 1876 July notes what was a savage attack in 1876 of the Ottoman Empire (Muslim). Dostoevsky writes: The victims are regarded precisely like reptiles, insects, or even worse: tens, hundreds of thousands of Christians are being wiped away like pernicious scabs; they are being torn from the face of the earth, roots and all. Sisters are being violated before the eyes of their dying brothers; infant children are being tossed in the air and caught on the point of a bayonet before the eyes of their mothers; villages are being annihilated, churches smashed to splinters; there is wholesale obliteration of everything, and by a savage, repulsive Moslem horde, the sworn enemy of civilization. Dr. Piper addressed this grave issue this past weekend in the Washington Times. The article is reprinted below. ____________ DR. EVERETT PIPER Sunday, December 21, 2025 BILL MAHER IS RIGHT: ISLAM IS CIVILIZATION'S GREATEST ENEMY WHILE CHRISTIANITY IS CIVILIZATION'S LAST LINE OF DEFENSE. If this past week doesn’t prove to you that Islam is now the number one enemy of the civilized world, then you are blind, deaf, and dumb. Consider the following. In Germany, multiple Christmas markets were effectively shut down by thousands of Muslims seeking to intimidate Christians who simply wanted to celebrate “peace on earth and goodwill toward men.” In Paris, its annual New Year's Eve festival was canceled because of credible Muslim terror threats. In Genoa, Muslims burned down a Christmas tree outside a Catholic church. In Brussels, hundreds of Christian families fled in fear as Muslim activists overran their local Christmas celebrations. In Milan, hordes of Muslims climbed on statues in local town squares as they forced Christmas well-wishers to carry Palestinian flags. In London, public Christmas traditions such as caroling and singing “Joy to the World” were discouraged because they’re now considered too “controversial” and potentially offensive to its burgeoning Muslim population. In Bavaria, five Muslim men were arrested for plotting a terrorist attack on a town in Poland. In Pakistan, a group of Muslims bombed a church during its Christmas services. In Indonesia, innumerable Muslims formed a human chain around multiple Christmas services while shouting jihadist rhetoric, effectively calling for the death of anyone who dared to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Add all this to the recent massacre of Jews at Bondi Beach and last week’s butchery of yet more Christians in northern Nigeria, as well as the increasingly bold admissions by Muslim clerics here in the United States of their goal to nullify American civil liberties in favor of sharia law, and it is virtually impossible to miss an obvious common denominator: Islam is freedom’s foe, not its friend. A little over ten years ago, Bill Maher went on the Charlie Rose show and said the following: Islam is not like other religions. It is a unique threat… There are illiberal beliefs that are held by vast numbers of Muslims. When Charlie Rose challenged him and said, “And for vast numbers of Christians too,” Mr. Maher, who, as you know, is not in any way, shape, or form a Christian, countered: No, that’s not true. Vast numbers of Christians do not believe that if you leave the Christian religion, you should be killed for it. Vast numbers of Christians do not treat women as second-class citizens. Vast numbers of Christians do not believe that if you draw a picture of Jesus Christ that you should get killed for it. He went on: Most Muslim people in the world condone violence just for what you think. They say it. There was a Pew poll done in Egypt a few years ago, [where] 82 percent said stoning was the appropriate punishment for adultery. Over 80 percent thought death was the appropriate punishment for leaving the Muslim religion… To claim that this religion is just like other religions is just naïve and plain wrong... In Saudi Arabia, for example, they just beheaded [several] people, most for non-violent crimes including homosexuality… If they were beheading people in Vatican City, don’t you think there would be a bigger outcry about it? Bill Maher is right, and we ignore his honesty to our peril. All religions are not the same. It’s not the Christians who are calling to stone people for their immorality or to behead those who deny the faith. It’s not Christians who are intimidating their neighbors into silence or plotting to blow up local villages. Christians aren’t marching in the streets shouting, “death to America and death to the Jews.” Christians aren’t calling for the execution of all who disbelieve. No, it’s not Christians Bill Maher needs to worry about, and he knows it. We are not the ones demanding that he submit or die. We are not the ones suggesting that he lose his head because his sexual morality differs from ours. When Christians disagree with the “Bill Mahers of the world,” we try to change their minds through conversation, not conquest. Why? Because we relish a good debate with our unbelieving friends, not their death. Bill Maher recognizes what many of today’s supposed thought leaders apparently do not: Islam and Christianity are very different worldviews. One seeks to change the world through “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control,” while the other tells its adherents to pick up the sword. One is the enemy of Western civilization, while the other is its last line of defense.
