Dear John,

Amanda moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, on a fixed income and without a job. At the top of her to-do list was to get an Ohio ID, which would help her secure a job and state services.

But when she went to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), she was turned away three times. Each time, the clerk rejected her documents.

Amanda was exhausted and felt like she had run out of options. Then she was connected to VoteRiders, and we made sure she got her ID.

Every day, voters like Amanda come to VoteRiders because they’ve been turned away, demeaned, belittled, or confused when trying to get their ID.

We are able to help them thanks to our donors’ generosity. Every donation helps us cover the fees and transportation that voters like Amanda need to secure their ID and regain their confidence.

Amanda quickly learned that VoteRiders does not shrink from a challenge.

First, we ordered Amanda a new birth certificate and had it expedited because she needed her ID as soon as possible for employment, healthcare, and other services.

Once her birth certificate arrived, we scheduled her a Lyft to take her to a different BMV than the one that had turned her away three times. One of our volunteers met her there to provide support and advocate on her behalf.

Together, Amanda and the VoteRiders volunteer presented the clerk with all her documentation, and this time, it was accepted. Soon she had her ID in hand — the clerk even asked if she wanted to register to vote, and of course she did!

Your matched support is an important part of our ability to help voters like Amanda. We always cover the fees and transportation costs associated with getting an ID, because we believe cost should never be a barrier to voting.

Make your tax-deductible donation today and it will be DOUBLED — so we can help twice as many voters like Amanda get the help they need to get an ID and cast a ballot in every election. >> [link removed]

P.S. All gifts up to $30,000 will be matched through December 31 to ensure we have the resources we need to help voters like Amanda before the midterm elections. Donate to help voters like Amanda!
