When I first ran for Congress in 2022, I promised the people of Colorado I would always tell them the truth, even when it may be difficult to hear.

So here’s the truth: Donald Trump wants to dismantle the protections we have under the Constitution — and give himself total control over the fate of our country and our lives.

He’s urging his hand-picked Supreme Court majority to end birthright citizenship, a well-established principle of the 14th Amendment.

He’s cracked down on the Constitutional right to gather and protest peacefully, sending the National Guard across the country to patrol their fellow citizens.

He’s sided with corrupt, murderous dictators over our democratic allies.

Since Donald Trump took office, I’ve heard from so many Coloradans who are not only angry with his administration. They’re terrified. People are living in fear that if they say the wrong thing, they’ll lose their job… or worse.

It’s been such a difficult year, and sometimes it might feel like it would be easier to spend these next three years in hiding.

But you haven’t. Time and time again, you’ve spoken out. You’ve stayed off the sidelines. And you’ve fought back — in ways that make a real difference for our neighbors who can’t fight back for themselves. That’s why I feel hopeful, despite everything we’re up against.

History is watching us. Future generations will remember this. And I think they’ll be proud of how we’ve fought back.

But I’ll be honest: our response next year on Election Day will be the key.

Yes, protests are effective. Building a community is effective. But the most effective way to get our country back on track is by winning elections — elections exactly like this one here in Colorado’s 7th.
