Hi there,

Trump has found a way around having traditional White House press briefings. Formality has been thrown out of the window and in front of Marine One and its roaring engines.

These impromptu press conferences are bizarre to say the least, but POLITICO notes that there's a method to the seeming madness.

Trump can now speak in front of the media far more than his predecessors -- but only on his own terms. He doesn't take questions or follow-ups that he doesn't want, and he can make outlandish statements at any moment. These sessions can last anywhere from minutes to a half hour to whenever he feels like he doesn't want to talk anymore.

But without a formal press briefing process, reporters' abilities to ask questions that can't be dodged are ultimately diminished. And if reporters can't press the White House on important issues and policy, then we can't truly hold Trump accountable.

Today, we're conducting a quick poll on the president's "chopper talks," and we need to hear from 92 more Democrats:
