Dear john,
As we wrap up the first year of the 119th Congress, I want to share an update on what House Republicans have accomplished while working closely with President Trump to deliver on the America First agenda.
This year was about reversing years of failed policies and getting our country back on the right track by strengthening our economy, securing our border, restoring American energy dominance, protecting our freedoms, and cutting wasteful government spending.
Here’s a snapshot of what we delivered for the American people:
House Republicans took action to restore law and order, secure the border, and protect our communities. Passed major border security legislation, including the Laken Riley Act, which requires detention of illegal aliens who commit crimes and holds the federal government accountable for failing to enforce border laws. Cracked down on deadly drugs by passing the HALT Fentanyl Act, now law, permanently classifying fentanyl-related substances and giving law enforcement the tools they need to keep communities safe. Strengthened penalties for illegal entry, human smuggling, DUI offenses by illegal immigrants, and violent crimes against women. Restored accountability in Washington, D.C. by advancing multiple bills to reverse soft-on-crime policies and support law enforcement. Took strong action against antisemitism, political violence, and attacks on law enforcement officers. Advanced commonsense legislation to protect women’s sports, ensuring fairness for female athletes.
Republicans delivered historic economic wins focused on families, seniors, workers, and small businesses. Passed President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cut, the largest tax cut in American history, increasing the Child Tax Credit for more than 40 million families. Ensured 88% of seniors receiving Social Security qualify for a new tax deduction. Delivered on no tax on tips and no tax on overtime, while securing over $1 trillion in savings. Passed legislation to roll back costly regulations and expand access to capital for small businesses. Advanced clear rules for digital assets and blocked the creation of a federal central bank digital currency, protecting Americans’ financial privacy.
House Republicans passed sweeping legislation to unleash domestic energy production and lower costs for families. Protected hydraulic fracturing and prevented federal bans on American energy production. Streamlined permitting for pipelines, LNG exports, power plants, mining, and grid reliability projects. Reversed Biden-era regulations that locked up millions of acres of land and mineral resources. Passed multiple Congressional Review Acts, now law, restoring energy development in Alaska, Wyoming, North Dakota, and beyond. Strengthened America’s electric grid and supply chains to meet growing demand and improve reliability.
We stood up for Americans’ freedom from government overreach. Repealed Biden-era rules that limited consumer choice on vehicles, appliances, water heaters, and commercial equipment. Protected Americans from California-driven mandates that would raise prices on cars and trucks nationwide. Defended election integrity by requiring proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections. Ensured public lands remain accessible for recreation and responsible use.
Increased benefits for disabled veterans and survivors through a cost-of-living adjustment. Strengthened housing and transition programs for homeless and transitioning veterans. Passed the National Defense Authorization Act, now law, investing in servicemembers, border security, and America’s defense industrial base while cutting wasteful spending. Took firm action to counter foreign influence—especially from Communist China—in schools and higher education.
Passed the Rescissions Act of 2025, now law, cutting $9 billion in wasteful spending, including funding for radical foreign aid initiatives and taxpayer-funded public broadcasting. Rolled back dozens of costly Biden regulations using the Congressional Review Act—the most CRAs signed into law by any Congress. Advanced reforms to rein in executive overreach, restore congressional authority, and improve accountability across federal agencies.
These accomplishments are just the beginning. House Republicans are committed to continuing our work with President Trump to make America safer, stronger, freer, and more prosperous.
Thank you for the privilege of serving you. I will continue to fight every day for Southeast Texas and the values we share.

Sincerely,
