Dear Friend,
Trump and Betsy DeVos continue to recklessly push for schools to reopen, taking no responsibility or understanding of what safety measures would be needed to do so. In fact, Trump's Press Secretary said that "science should not stand in the way” of schools reopening.
Not only are they not adequately supporting schools and teachers to lead classrooms safely, but there are also no plans to increase budgets for schools to be able to safely open.
So we want to hear from you: what are your thoughts on schools reopening this fall? We would love to take just a minute or two of your time to hear what you think, friend.
The pandemic has laid so many inequalities bare, especially in our schools: overcrowding, underfunding, schools where all nurses have been cut, districts and communities where internet is not available or accessible, and so many more.
Without plans and resources to reopen safely, students who were already vulnerable will be left completely behind or put their families at risk, and that is unacceptable.
We look forward to reading your thoughts and reporting back.
