You also helped us convince all major global athletic shoe brands — including Nike, Puma, Adidas, New Balance, and ASICS — to stop sourcing kangaroo skins for their soccer shoes. This progress is helping wind down the annual slaughter of roughly 2 million kangaroos in their native habitats in Australia. The companies have transitioned to cruelty-free materials, and consumers can now make purchasing decisions that are not linked to orphaning joeys in the Outback.
And you gave us the support needed to rewire federal nutrition programs and dismantle the cow’s-milk mandate in the National School Lunch Program. With this new national policy, school cafeterias can better reflect the modern marketplace, giving millions of lactose-intolerant children access to nutritious beverage options that work for them. Plant-based milk companies can now compete on a level playing field, no longer excluded by a federal government beholden to special interests and dismissive of the welfare of cows who endure hardship only to see their milk discarded.
