Republican lawmakers think that they’ve gerrymandered this state so effectively and limited North Carolinians’ voting rights to such an extent that the GOP can never lose.

They think they’ve got a lock on power, no matter what the voters want. They’re wrong. We can still fight back, and we have a plan to do it. It all starts with the NC Supreme Court. Here’s the roadmap:

2024
Last year, Democrat Allison Riggs successfully defended her seat on the Court, though Republicans tried to steal her election by throwing out legal ballots. Fortunately, the federal courts foiled their attempt.

2026
Next year, her colleague, Justice Anita Earls, is up for reelection. Right now, Justices Riggs and Earls are the only Democrats on the Court. We must re-elect Justice Earls.

2028
In 2028, we have a real opportunity. Three out of the five Republican justices on the Court will be on the ballot. If we flip at least two of those seats, we can deliver a Supreme Court majority committed to the rule of law.

When we take back the Court, then the fight for fair maps begins. The GOP’s blatantly racial and partisan gerrymandering must be challenged so that all North Carolinians can have their fair say, and with a fair-minded Democratic Court, we have a chance for success. People, not politicians, should have the power in our democracy.

If we have fair maps, Democrats can win. We can take back the legislature, flip critical congressional seats, and end the GOP’s hold on our state.

This is how we win, John, but we can only do it with a strong network of grassroots supporters who are ready to step up. We have to start building that movement and our momentum right now.
