John,
I want to talk to you today about two progressives who can flip
Republican-held House seats blue in Texas and Michigan -- key states we
need to compete in this November.
Gina Ortiz Jones is running to flip a Republican-held seat in TX-23. She’s
a first-generation American, and an LGBTQ former Air Force intelligence
officer who served under “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”
Now, she’s running for Congress as a racial and social justice champion, a
fighter for equal rights for all, regardless of race, national origin,
sexual orientation, etc., and prioritizing education for all of our
children by strengthening our public schools. Gina came just 926 votes
short of flipping this seat in 2018. With our support, she can win in 2020
and make history as the first Filipina elected to Congress.
Jon Hoadley is running to defeat a seventeen-term Republican incumbent in
MI-6. He’s led the fight for big, bold, progressive ideas on behalf of
Michiganders in the state house for years -- and is running for Congress
to put people’s needs first.
He’ll fight for working families, to protect our environment, and for
better funding for public schools. And he’ll put people back at the center
of decision-making in Washington.
But Gina and Jon can’t win these races alone. They’re counting on strong
grassroots support to flip these seats and counter the corporate interests
spending big in Texas and Michigan. Will you split a contribution between
their campaigns and DFA to help them flip these red House seats blue?
