Hey friend! How's the light here? Personally, I think it really
enhances the hint of blue in my left eye. Don't you? I just love
helping my young human friends learn photography, but there's no
better subject than Glacier National Park to help you hone your
skills.
Every summer, thanks to donations to the Glacier Conservancy,
kids get to spend a week doing just that through the Glacier In
Focus program.I can hear the excitement of these kids when I'm
working at Logan Pass as they shout over and over the phrase
“LOOK HOW MANY PHOTOS I TOOK!" Glacier in Focus is a partnership
with the Glacier Conservancy, Glacier Institute and the Udall
Foundation that brings middle schoolers from across northwest
Montana to Glacier for a week-long camp where they gain outdoors
experience, learn "Leave No Trace" principles, and are given a
camera to sharpen their photography skills.
After a week of hiking, camping, and photo taking, they are sworn
in as Junior Rangers. How cool is that?!

Throughout the week of this year's camp, students learned about
different photography techniques for landscape
photography like the rule of thirds, and how to compose a
compelling landscape shot.
They also had lessons on perspective, focus, light, and repeat
photography. These techniques were taught through learning
different skills, like macro and sunset
photography. Visiting different parts of the park offers easy
access to views that would help them learn the skill of the day.
