Good morning, good morning! I hope this message finds you well.

In just a couple of days, lots of people will be going on and on about their New Year's Resolutions. Personally, I think the middle of the "deadest" period in nature is a dreadful time to start changing yourself and expecting it to stick.

Wouldn't we all feel more enthusiastic when the weather starts warming up in the spring? Would we be more motivated to bloom while nature itself is in bloom? I'm not that into it when it gets dark at 5 pm, when it's freezing out, or when it's treacherous and icy. 'Join a gym!" I can hear some people screaming. The gym is not for everyone, nor is it an expense I'm willing to undertake right now.

I find this time of year to be wonderful for cozy resolutions, though. Things like learning to bake bread, needlepoint, putting together puzzles instead of scrolling on your phone, working on wooden projects in your heated workshop, writing stories, reading with your kids every single day - cold and dark weather is ideal for things like this.

I know that in the past, when I made walking a habit during good weather, I was far more likely to fight through the bad weather to keep that habit going. I don't believe we have to make life so much harder on ourselves to improve our health, fitness, appearance, etc.

Maybe what we should do then is if we are raring to go with self-improvement, focus on the things that make sense during specific times of the year. Maybe these resolutions should happen three or four times a year instead of just once.

It's just a point to ponder as we shimmy into the "New Year, New Me" phase of winter. Whatever (and whenever) your resolutions are, I have faith in you, that you will conquer them in 2026.

If you haven't heard, my newest book (last year's resolution) is now finished and available in paperback only on Amazon. You can find Haven Hill at the link below.

I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it! If you did, please be kind and leave me a 5-star review over on Amazon! I need 20 more to get into the recommendation rotation! If you're on Good Reads, I'd love to get your review over there, too!

I hope that you had the merriest of Christmases, and that the new year will be filled with peace, love, and prosperity for us all.

Stay safe.

Be happy.

Love,
Daisy
