Most news outlets pay the bills by selling advertising to corporate clients, but then they’re beholden to those corporate paymasters. Others charge a subscription fee, but that would defeat the purpose of our mission: To inform. To inspire. To ignite change for the common good.

In recent years, more and more news outlets have made money by collecting and selling your personal data. We’re sure as hell are never going to do that.

Our core conviction is that we best serve our mission by raising money from you, our readers, so that we’re accountable only to you. That’s been the model from the beginning, and that will always remain the model.
