Dear Friend,
On Christmas Eve, we got the news: $21 million in healthcare had been restored to the DC Healthcare Alliance. The impact of this announcement 25,000 adults in the program will be able to access dental and vision care, home health and hospice, and many more services that had been cut earlier this year.
What might seem like a Christmas miracle is really the result of persistent organizing. Since the spring, we have been unrelenting in our demand that DC restore the DC Healthcare Alliance. We have built a powerful coalition of patients, community groups, healthcare providers, families, unions, immigrants, and others who care about the health and safety of our neighbors. We have walked the halls, testified, collected 1,581 postcards, emailed elected and appointed officials.
And this week we won.
