Dear John,
Free expression came under threat in 2025.
As 2025 comes to a close, we are reflecting on a challenging year for free expression.
We’ve witnessed unprecedented attacks from the federal as well as state and local governments. We’ve seen a growing culture of fear as the freedom to think, speak, and create shrinks—especially for those with the least power to fight back.
Across our case work, we’ve heard from students, authors, artists, teachers, authors, arts institutions, and librarians whose free expression is being curtailed—through book bans, educational censorship, propaganda, and the targeting of political dissent.
But your support this year-end will fuel education and advocacy on behalf of those who need a voice.
Your donation now will ensure new and updated educational programs and materials for students, artists, arts administrators, teachers, authors, and librarians.
Your gift will give voice to those who have been targeted, supporting advocacy including publicity, interventions, and “friend of the court” briefs.
And your support will fund our fellowship program for the next generation of advocates so that free expression has its champions now and in the future.
You can turn this year’s muzzles into megaphones with your donation today!
Before 2025 comes to a close, stand with those being silenced and join us in the fight for freedom of expression.
Yours in liberty,

Lee Rowland
