While Trump and his party joke about an "affordability hoax," Arizona Democrats are out meeting with voters across the state and hearing their concerns.

On December 7th, Reps. Adelita Grijalva and Greg Stanton held a town hall in Tucson focused on one issue: affordability. They listened to families struggling with high prices for healthcare, food, and housing. And they laid out exactly how Republican policies are making things worse.

This is what leadership looks like.

"Republicans told voters they had a plan. They promised relief," Grijalva said. "But almost one year into Trump's second term, things have only gotten worse, and it's a direct result of the choices they're making in Washington."

The Consumer Price Index grew 3% between September 2024 and September 2025 — faster than the year before. Prices are still rising. And Republicans are making it worse with tariffs, cuts to Medicaid and SNAP, and healthcare policies that will cause premiums to skyrocket.

Grijalva and Stanton held the town hall in Tucson's south side — in Arizona's 6th Congressional District, currently held by Republican Juan Ciscomani.

The same Juan Ciscomani who voted for the "One Big Beautiful Bill" that will strip Medicaid and SNAP benefits from millions, while making permanent lower tax brackets for the wealthiest Americans. He enabled the 43-day government shutdown. He visited food banks after voting to slash food assistance.

Now he's claiming he's "focused on results — lowering costs, protecting taxpayers, and delivering for the people of Arizona."

His voting record tells a different story.

Trump can call affordability a "hoax" all he wants, but Arizona Democrats are taking it seriously. While Republicans stage photo-ops and lie about their records, Democrats are holding town halls and hearing from real families.

The contrast couldn't be clearer.
