Hi John,
Healthcare should work for every American, not just those who can afford it.
In Massachusetts, we’ve seen what happens when profit is put ahead of patients. Private equity firms took over hospitals and nursing homes, drained them for short-term gain, and walked away when the system collapsed. When Steward Health Care failed, communities like Dorchester and Ayer didn’t just lose buildings; they lost access to the care they depended on.
That didn’t happen by accident. It happened because our healthcare system rewards financial engineering instead of outcomes, and because too many leaders are unwilling to take on the interests that benefit from the status quo.
That’s why I support a strong national public option that competes with private insurers and actually brings costs down for families. Healthcare is a human right. But that can only become reality if we have the political strength to fight for it.
That’s why this end-of-quarter moment matters. EOQ fundraising is one of the clearest ways campaigns demonstrate momentum and credibility — to organizers, supporters, and the people deciding whether this fight can be won. Hitting our goal means we keep building the campaign needed to take on corporate healthcare interests and push real reform forward. Falling short makes that fight harder.
If you’re able, can you chip in before the quarter ends to help keep this campaign strong and moving forward?
