We saw firsthand in Georgia what rampant voter suppression did -- and far right leaders are planning on exploiting the coronavirus pandemic to take those tactics to a national level.
We can’t let that happen. We need universal access to vote-by-mail measures, and that starts with immediately sending every registered voter an application for a vote-by-mail ballot.
Here in Georgia, DeKalb and Clarke Counties are already taking that measure, and more counties are examining that policy. But it’s not enough. All voters across the country should have access to vote-by-mail. This is a basic public health issue in the time of coronavirus, and Team Carolyn is taking action.

We’ve already seen the dangers of voting in person, friend. In Wisconsin, Republican officials forced the state to hold an in-person election – and coronavirus cases spiked as a result.
And right here at home, we saw what voting in person looked like on the June 9th primary: crowded lines, closed polling sites, and people waiting for hours after polls were supposed to close in order to cast their vote. That situation could be worse in November – and people’s lives will be at risk. All of us are going to be asked to risk our health and that of our loved ones in order to cast our ballot – and that is an unacceptable thing to ask of anyone in a functioning democracy.
