John,
As this year comes to a close, I want to take a moment to say thank you because everything Powered by People has done this year happened because this team showed up and did the work.
You showed up to register voters. You showed up to recruit candidates for every position on the ballot. You showed up to events and town halls across the state. You showed up in communities that too often get written off or taken for granted.
Because of you, we’ve grown our organizing across the state, trained volunteers, registered voters, recruited candidates, and done the work that’s already making a difference. We’re not waiting until the last few months before an election. We’re doing the work now—and it’s paying off. Which brings me to 2026 and the next 10 months until early voting begins:
We have real opportunities to change the makeup of Texas statewide. Races that used to be considered “impossible” are now competitive because people are hungry for leaders who actually understand their lives and fight for them.
Take Senate District 9 in Texas as an example. Democrat Taylor Rehmet just forced a runoff in a district Donald Trump won by more than 17 points last year. Taylor grew up in this district. He lives there. He knows what working families are up against because he’s lived it himself. And last month, he finished first—ahead of two Republicans with 48% of the vote.
That didn’t happen by accident. It happened because voters are ready for leaders who fight for them—and because organizers and volunteers refused to give up on a place they were told couldn’t change.
But if we’re going to keep building on this momentum, have the backs of candidates like Taylor, and start 2026 with momentum on our side, we have to finish this year strong.
Thank you,
Beto
