We are all working tirelessly to make our elections secure and verifiable, and hope you’ll support us with a gift ([link removed]) as we work towards November's elections. Meet Cris Landa, our Director of National Programs, whose work lies at the heart of what we do:

My life was forever changed when I volunteered in the 2016 election cycle in Michigan. I became acquainted with a Voting Protection Director who suggested I work for the Department of Elections as an official Spanish translator and poll worker on Election Day. From 5 a.m. until 11 p.m., I witnessed what is rarely seen by the average voter - how a voter’s identity gets authenticated and how their vote actually gets counted and reported.

Seeing the ins and outs of how voting happened in Detroit led me to understand why inadequate voting systems and poor technology choices disenfranchise voters, and that election technology fundamentally affects trust in our democracy. My first-hand experience furthered my commitment to help protect our right to vote by making sure our votes count, and is ultimately what brought me to Verified Voting.

In my role, I have the privilege of ensuring our fantastic team of audit specialists, researchers, and policy experts have what they need to effectively reach their goals to validate the 2020 election ([link removed]) . We’re:
-Deepening our data repository and using our data to inform policymakers, researchers, and journalists
-Working with election officials in swing states to assist them with implementing post-election audits
-Speaking out about how poor technology choices disenfranchise voters
-Pushing back against dangerously insecure internet voting proposals
