John,
My name is Shenise Turner-Sloss, and I’m honored to write to you as the newly elected Mayor of Dayton, Ohio.
I ran for this office because I believe something deeply and stubbornly hopeful: that government can work for working people — not just the wealthy, not just the well-connected, but the families who keep our cities running every single day.
I didn’t get here alone. Though my name was at the top of the ticket, this was a collective effort.
We got here because of organizers, volunteers, neighbors, and movement partners who showed up, knocked doors, made calls, and believed in bold ideas worth fighting for. We got here because organizations like the Working Families Party invest in people — not political machines — and because together, we proved what’s possible when we move as one.
Will you chip in to support the work of the Working Families Party? Your end-of-year gift to the Working Families Party is one of the most powerful ways to make sure leaders who govern with courage and care aren’t the exception — they’re the norm.

WFP believes in candidates who come from the community — not just parachute into it. They believe in leaders who tell the truth about what working families are facing and have the courage to govern differently once elected. And they believe that winning elections is only the beginning.
As mayor, I’ll be focused on delivering real results: safer neighborhoods, good jobs, affordable housing, and a city that works for everyone — not just a few. But none of that happens without a movement strong enough to demand it and organized enough to protect it.
That’s why I’m asking you to make an end-of-year contribution to the Working Families Party today to help build governing power for working families everywhere.
What we’re building doesn’t stop in Dayton. It’s happening in cities, states, and communities across the country — and it’s only possible because people like you decide to invest in policies that actually serve working families.
As this year comes to a close, I hope you’ll stand with us.
Let’s keep building the future together.
In solidarity,
Shenise Turner-Sloss
Mayor-Elect, Dayton, Ohio
