YIMBY Law expanded to enforce pro-housing laws nationwide for the first time this year. We’ve released several reports and academic papers, including a recent law review article and publication in the Legal Intelligencer about Pennsylvania’s Fair Share Doctrine.

Our legal enforcement work in states like Colorado, Florida, Illinois, and Pennsylvania is building on wins in states with YIMBY Action chapters and providing support for housing projects that are proposed throughout the US.

For far too long, cities have capitulated to NIMBY sentiments that drive up the cost of housing for everyone. Jack Farrell, a YIMBY Law research attorney, was recently quoted as saying:

“There is so much history and practice of game playing by cities to do things that are close to illegal or outright illegal. One of the earliest stages of the [homebuilding] process is just legal arguments back and forth before anybody is able to actually construct housing and get people living in it.”
