We can ensure a healthy future for wild salmon and their rivers – but only together.

Dear John,

When I came to work at Wild Salmon Center some 27 years ago, the future of these wild fish looked quite bleak. Overfishing, pollution, and development were making it hard to imagine a world where salmon could once again thrive in their home rivers.

We haven't solved all the problems facing wild salmon conservation. But we have made great progress in the past few decades, thanks in no small part to our generous supporters. This momentum is why, with dozens of salmon rivers still under threat, we need individuals like you, John, to continue your support.

For just a few more days, we're able to match your contribution to Wild Salmon Center 2X, doubling the impact of your gift ([link removed]) on the science, conservation, and advocacy work we must to do in the coming year to keep making progress on our ultimate goal: to permanently protect the world's last remaining salmon strongholds – the remarkable rivers where wild salmon still flourish.

Match My Gift ([link removed])

Will you take a minute now, John, to make your 2X matched, year-end gift to help save wild salmon? ([link removed])

I'm proud to say that through science, expertise, and powerful alliances, Wild Salmon Center has innovated the field of wild salmon conservation. Our success flows from our stronghold strategy. By focusing on protecting the salmon rivers still capable of supporting robust populations, we avoid the costlier, less certain work of restoring degraded rivers and hoping wild salmon return.

With donor support, we've already:

Used science to identify 119 wild salmon strongholds – the keys to safeguarding wild salmon far into the future

Safeguarded 35.7 million acres of wild salmon habitat

Managed 89 rivers to support wild fish diversity

Protected 60,240 miles of streamside buffers in Oregon alone, helping to keep wild salmon rivers running cold and clean

With partner organizations, founded 15 coalitions dedicated to wild salmon conservation throughout the Pacific Rim

And so much more

One of the best things about our work is how many benefits flow from it. Protect wild salmon, and you’re also helping to conserve orcas, wolves, otters, and eagles — all of which rely on salmon for food. Protect salmon, and you’re helping to keep our watersheds protected, ensuring clean drinking water for so many communities. Protect salmon and you're also preserving the carbon-storing, air-cleaning landscapes they call home, benefitting everyone, everywhere.

I'm sure you'll hear from many great causes this week, as the year-end charitable giving deadline approaches. I appreciate you taking the time to consider a year-end gift to Wild Salmon Center, especially as our 2X match is still intact.

Protect wild salmon and the rivers they call home. Make your year-end gift to Wild Salmon Center while matching funds are still available. ([link removed])

I'm proud of what we've already accomplished, John, and I look forward to working with you to accomplish so much more.

Thank you,

Guido Rahr
