Editor's Note:
Â
Loud and aggressive bullies, especially those who run roughshod through today's cancel culture, are always counting on the quiet majority's reticence to speak up. It is easy to understand not wanting to risk one's job or reputation or relatively peaceful life by challenging the aggressors, but we no longer have a choice. What we used to think would never happen in America is, indeed, happening in America, and it will not stop if it has no opposition. As Martin Luther King, Jr. once noted, "He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it." Our outspoken courage is critical in 2020 and beyond. Reprinted with permission. Pat Daugherty, Ed.D.
