Dear Fellow Hoosiers:
For many of us, Christmas is a special and sacred day.
We pause from the busy rush of daily life to gather with family or friends. We indulge in time-honored traditions such as exchanging gifts. We enjoy songs of the season that many of us have heard at this time of year since childhood.
For Christians, the central focal point of all the celebrations is the birth of our Savior, who entered the world in human flesh as a newborn baby born to a virgin.
Centuries before that miraculous scene unfolded in Bethlehem, the prophet Isaiah wrote, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
As believers, we are grateful that Jesus Christ possesses the ultimate authority. Our faith assures us that, in time, He will establish a physical society on this earth that features perfect peace and everlasting justice.
In the meantime, in an imperfect world, we all should do our best to love God and love our neighbors. We should do our best to preserve liberty for present and future generations. And we should do our best to uphold virtue and the rule of law.
Thank you for the honor of serving as your Indiana attorney general. From my family to yours, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Merry Christmas,
Todd Rokita
