Number of the Day: 27% of voters lack confidence that votes in presidential election will be counted accurately

July 22, 2020: Twenty-seven percent (27%) of voters lack confidence that their votes will be accurately counted in the upcoming presidential election. That total includes 20% who are not very confident and 7% who are not at all confident the correct winner will be declared.[1]

The distrust is spread evenly across the partisan divide. Twenty-six percent (26%) of Republicans lack confidence as do 26% of Democrats. Among independent voters, 29% aren’t confident the correct winner will be declared president.[1]

Other survey data found that, in a close election, 50% believe Republicans will cheat to try and steal the election. Thirty-eight percent (38%) believe the Democrats will do the same.[2]
