NAFCU,
EXIM partner to promote small biz lending
NAFCU and the Export-Import
Bank (EXIM) Tuesday signed a two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed
at increasing credit union awareness of export financing opportunities offered
by the agency and credit unions' participation in them. NAFCU President and
CEO Dan Berger and EXIM President and Chairman Kimberly Reed signed the agreement.
NCUA
nominee Hauptman outlines priorities during testimony
NCUA Board nominee
Kyle Hauptman testified before the Senate Banking Committee Tuesday and previewed
his top three priorities for the NCUA if he were to be confirmed. Hauptman was
nominated to the NCUA Board by President Donald Trump last month to replace Board
Member J. Mark McWatters, whose term officially expired in August 2019.
House
approves NDAA with NAFCU-supported language
The House Tuesday passed
its version of the fiscal year 2021 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
As the bill moved through the House Armed Services Committee and chamber, NAFCU's
award-winning advocacy team successfully kept out of the bill a provision that
could harm credit unions when it comes to nominal leases on military bases and
got an amendment added to make reforms to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/anti-money laundering (AML) regime.

calls for reg relief on Dodd-Frank anniversary in new op-ed
On the
10-year anniversary of the signing of the Dodd-Frank Act, NAFCU President and
CEO Dan Berger penned an op-ed in Credit Union Times calling on policymakers to
reduce the regulatory burdens credit unions face as a result of the legislation
as well as the challenges they are confronting amid the coronavirus pandemic.

advanced two nominations for the Federal Reserve Board of Governors to the full
Senate: Economist Judy Shelton and Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis Director of Research Dr. Christopher Waller.
