As more Americans are struggling to pay their bills and stay in their homes, we need more Congressional support for transformative anti-poverty programs.
Some families in my district can now apply to receive direct cash payments during pregnancy and the first year of their child’s life. These kinds of programs are life-changing.
Over 160 successful pilot programs across the country have shown that sending cash directly to people saves lives, dramatically reduces poverty, and stimulates local economies.
I’m launching the Economic Dignity For All Agenda, a set of policies to provide universal monthly payments to families and individuals nationwide.

This policy package includes:
- The End Child Poverty Act, which would create a universal child allowance of $458 per child per month.
- The BOOST Act (Building Our Opportunities to Survive and Thrive Act), which would help break the cycle of poverty and build economic security for all by providing $250/month to adults aged 19 to 67 years old.
- The Baby Bonus Act, which would support newborns and cover new expenses by providing every family with $2,000 upon the birth of their child.
Through my work with the Congressional Mamas’ Caucus, I’ve spoken with parents and caregivers who can’t afford necessary expenses like diapers and formula.
Unlike many of my colleagues in Congress, I grew up in a working class family and understand the urgency with which we need to move.
