Holidays are about the traditions in our home. It’s what keeps our family coming together and keeps us connected to our community, too.
Every year for Christmas, we order a big beautiful fir tree from the fundraiser at my children’s grade school, and then host a decorating party at our home.
On Christmas Eve, we slow roast duck with forty cloves of garlic for five hours, with potatoes and green beans, and the next day, our son Jax makes Christmas dinner. It’s a special time for our family. For us, religion is personal, and celebrations are shared.
Christmas is about not just those around the table, but those who aren't. This is our first Christmas without any grandparents, so we’ll be thinking about Kurt’s and my parents.
I love how New York shows up for the occasion, too! It’s full of color, song, lights, and life everywhere during this season. Even though it’s the darkest, coldest time of year, you can feel that extra magic in the air. So, whether you celebrate Christmas or not, whether it’s Chinese takeout or roasted duck, I hope you enjoy this special time with family and friends.
Have a joyous holiday,
Jami
