Dear neighbor,

Last week began with a heartbreaking reminder of the terrible gun violence problem we face in our nation. I joined my colleagues for a moment of silence to honor the lives we lost at Brown University this past weekend in the horrific shooting. I also spoke on the House floor about the gun violence in our country and how we, as congress, must act to end this epidemic. In a classified briefing, I watched the video of the September Venezuelan boat strike and urged the Department of Defense to release it to the public. We also received 218 signatures on the discharge petition that will bring a vote to the floor on extending the ACA tax credits to lower healthcare costs – it’s time for the Speaker to bring the vote to the floor so we can save affordable healthcare.

We have a problem with gun violence in this country. Mass shooting after mass shooting. Death after death. Congress has failed to act. To my colleagues in congress, I compel you to end this tragedy – we need to address this gun violence epidemic.

Last week, we took a moment of silence on the House floor to honor the lives lost at Brown University in the horrific shooting this past weekend. The memories and legacies of MukhammadAziz Umurzokov and Ella Cook will not be forgotten.

In a classified briefing, I got to see the video of the September 2nd boat strike and in full transparency the Department of Defense should release the entire video to the public. The Secretary of Defense also needs to make the EXORD available to the House Armed Services Committee as required by law.
