A note from from Mayor Brian Turnbull...

The summer heat has been upon us, and many residents are taking refuge at local swimming spots.
Early local history, dating back to the 1870’s & 1880’s, tells us that the Northville Fish Hatchery (the first
National Hatchery) provided a spot for swimming in one of their 13 ponds. Additionally, there was a
small pond (that is still there in the back of Rural Hill Cemetery) where many of the local adventurous boys
swam until the WWII era. Locals would also cool down at nearby gravel pits, which today, are Blue
Huron Pointe and Highland Lakes. In the 1960s the Northville Swim Club came on the scene as a proper
swimming area with club-type facilities. Additionally, I remember enjoying a County splash park /
wading area across from Custard Time in Cass Benton Park until the 1960s.
Of all these swimming areas, the only one left is the Northville Swim Club which has flourished for nearly 60 years! For a little fun, I'll let you guess what year this photo was taken at the top of the high dive.

* COVID-19: Northville has had 49 cases/7 fatalities. Northville Township 179/25, Michigan 82K/6.5K, and the Nation 3.8M/141K. Testing & contact tracing continues.
* Two Vaccines, one from Pfizer and another from Oxford University are said to be very promising, along with 23 others that are currently in the pipeline.
* My commitment continues to keep you connected & safe, while having open communication.
* Roads – 14 City Road Projects are under construction for benefit of all Northvillians.
