Jack, Pete Hegseth poses an immediate threat to women in the services, to our democracy, and to civilians—and he needs to go. Reporting now alleges he ordered the killing of civilians at sea who were clinging to the wreckage of their bombed boat. This is murder. We opposed his nomination for Secretary of Defense because of his record of misogynistic, racist, and anti-trans beliefs, and because of credible sexual assault allegations against him. It was clear then—as it is now—that he is motivated by the desire to hurt and humiliate with impunity. These latest revelations only underscore the urgent need for congressional oversight. Pete Hegseth must be held accountable for his actions. We need to demand that every Member of Congress call for Hegseth’s removal. |
Again and again, Hegseth has proven us right. He is an unqualified, lawless bully unfit to lead the Department of Defense (DOD). He is: - Directly endangering service members by violating DOD policy and sharing sensitive real-time military updates over an unsecure messaging app—even including a journalist added by accident.
- Responsible for illegal killing of civilians in international waters. These boat strikes, ordered without congressional approval, are flatly illegal—actions that would amount to war crimes even in an armed conflict.
- Attacking women and transgender service members. He has said “the single dumbest phrase in military history is our diversity is our strength,” and has worked to marginalize and erase women and trans service members, including by banning transgender people and undermining sex discrimination claims.
- Leading a crusade to end access to health care for service members, including abortion and gender-affirming care.
Pete Hegseth must resign or be removed. Congress has a duty to check Executive Branch abuses and hold lawbreakers accountable. Instead, Congressional Republican majorities have rubber stamped these actions. We cannot allow this to continue. Tell Congress to hold Hegseth accountable and remove him NOW. |
