John,
Remember Trump’s inauguration? It wasn't even a year ago. All of the corporate titans and tech billionaires in supplication, pledging their fealty… soon to be followed by the major law firms, the Ivy League universities, the media corporations, even Congress and the Supreme Court… really, anyone with any kind of conventional power was bending the knee to this would-be dictator… it was enough to make you puke… and to tempt us to despair.
But instead, we chose to fight.
We held town halls in Republican strongholds, places Trump had just won with 70% of the vote. Amarillo, Wichita Falls, Tyler. We had them in the suburbs too: Mansfield, Rosenberg (with my friend Tim Walz), Denton, Garland, Humble. And we did the same in bigger cities, from San Antonio and Laredo to Beaumont.
That was just the beginning for us. We had a big year at Powered by People, and we’re not slowing down now. We’re only going to turn it up in 2026, because the stakes could not be higher and the opportunity could not be clearer.
This is how we win a U.S. Senate seat. This is how we win Democratic seats in Congress. This is how we flip state legislative seats, protect health care and voting rights, and make sure the people of Texas — not billionaires, not extremists, not corrupt politicians — decide our future.
And the way we do it is the same way we always have: together.
Powered by People exists for moments like this. Not just to protest what’s wrong, but to organize for what’s possible. To register voters, recruit and support candidates in every district, build coalitions across communities, and stay in the fight year-round — not just when there’s an election on the calendar.
If you’re ready to build on this work in 2026, I’m asking you to join us.
Sign up to be part of Powered by People and take your place in the largest grassroots organizing effort Texas has ever seen. Whether you can volunteer, help register voters, show up at events, or simply stay connected and help spread the word, there is a role for you — and we need you in this fight.
Thanks for believing in the power of people. Thanks for showing up when it matters. And thanks for being in this with us — for Texas and for the country.
Beto
P.S. This movement is powered by people choosing action over despair. When you sign up, you’re joining a community committed to doing the hard work — every day — to protect our democracy and deliver a better future.
